FAQS
Find answers to common questions about our car rental services, policies, and booking process for a hassle-free experience.
To rent a car in Larnaca, you typically need to be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driving licence for a minimum of three years. Many companies set a maximum age around 75 years and may charge extra fees for drivers under 25 or over 70. Always check with your provider for specific age and experience requirements.
When you collect your hire car, bring your driving licence, your passport or national ID and a credit card in the main driver’s name for the security deposit. It’s also best to have your booking confirmation or voucher. If you’ve added additional drivers, they’ll need to show their licences and identification too. Some companies may ask for extra documentation depending on your booking.
Yes, your driving licence can be used to rent a car in Cyprus, but the rules depend on the country that issued it. Drivers with a UK, EU or EEA licence do not need an International Driving Permit because Cyprus recognises these licences and you can drive as normal. If you hold a United States or other non‑EU licence, you must carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) together with your valid domestic licence. Car rental companies generally require that your licence has been valid for at least 3 years and contains Roman characters. Always check your rental company’s terms if you are staying for a long period or your licence is from a country outside the EU/EEA.
Car rentals in Cyprus automatically include basic third‑party liability insurance, which is required by law. Most rates also come with collision damage waiver (CDW) and theft protection to cover damage or loss of the vehicle, though a deductible (excess) applies. Breakdown assistance is usually available. Tyres, glass, the roof and undercarriage may not be covered, and personal accident coverage for drivers and passengers is optional. To reduce or eliminate your excess and protect against more types of damage, you can purchase super CDW or full protection when you book or when you pick up the car. Always review your rental contract to understand what is included and any exclusions or excess amounts.
